OCR: Jarrico recruited Howard Robertson, a Columbia cameraman sympathetic to the Ten to shoot the film, as well as John Berry to direct. Jarrico persuaded Berry to participate, assuring him that no one would know. He was wrong. One of the Ten, director Edward Dmytryk, was to turn his coat after serving his sentence and to name Berry. Silent shots of the Ten and their families as well as insert shots of their scripts and awards were made by a second unit over several weeks. The sound shoot was completed in one day at a closed Los Angeles theater. The film was distributed by the Emergency Civil Liberties Committee and other organizations fighting to get the Ten paroled or pardoned. There was never a theatrical release.
